The Wood Sorrel Collection celebrates the quiet charm of one of nature's most delicate plants. Found in woodlands and shaded meadows, wood sorrel (Oxalis acetosella) is known for its distinctive heart-shaped leaves that fold at night and its delicate, fleeting white or pink-veined flowers. Symbolizing good fortune, resilience, and renewal, it has long been admired in folklore and nature alike.
Each piece in this collection is handcrafted in bronze, cast directly from real wood sorrel plants to capture every fine vein and natural curve. Finished with a soft, natural patina, the collection offers timeless elegance for nature lovers and those who cherish jewelry inspired by the wild.
Materials: The Wood Sorrel necklace is cast in bronze, finished with our signature hand patina, 24kt gold and antique bronze over copper.
Measures: 17.5" - 19.5" L {adjustable}; Drop: approx. 1.5" L.
Botanical Jewelry by Michael Michaud
The Michael Michaud Jewelry Collection, designed by Michael Michaud, is a world-renowned collection of botanical jewelry. It captures the beauty and exquisite detail of nature using soft patinas on bronze accented with pearls, beads, glass and semi-precious stones. His exacting attention to detail gives you true to nature, botanical jewelry.
About Our Jewelry
Our unique jewelry is made by creating molds directly from botanical elements in a process similar to lost-wax casting. While traditional lost-wax casting begins with a hand-carved model of wax, Michael Michaud uses an actual leaf, branch or flower in place of the wax model. A mold is created around the botanical element and as it is heated the plant matter burns away and leaves behind a beautifully detailed mold of itself.
Michael Michaud
Artist Michael Michaud attended the Rochester Institute of Technology's prestigious school for American craftsmen, where he studied under designers Hons Christenson and Gory Griffin and become a master in the creation and manipulation of molds. After graduating in 1980, Michael Michaud continued to perfect his craft while working under jewelry designers in the New York City area.
In 1991, he found himself working in New York City's flower district and living in the beautiful Connecticut countryside - his love of the natural beauty that surrounded him began to blend with his passion for creating jewelry which lead to the birth of Michael Michaud Jewelry.
