Tom McGlauchlin
Tom McGlauchlin was born September 14, 1934 on his family's farm about 3 miles from Beloit Wisconsin. He was the youngest of eight siblings. Three years later the family moved to Beloit where Tom grew up with a great deal of freedom and experienced many harsh realities of the depression.
He entered the University of Wisconsin, Madison in 1954 with a Major in Engineering but switched to a major in Art the middle of his sophomore year. He studied pottery with Harvey Littleton and Toshiko Takaezu and sculpture with Leo Steppat. He received his B.S. in Art in 1959 and M.S. in Art in 1960.
