Biography

Susan Skove is a graduate from The Cooper School of Art.

She taught drawing and design courses at Cooper after graduating.

For many years she co-owned and operated a coffee shop, Arabica, where her creativity was centered on recipe development and execution.

While raising her children, she became certified as a Montessori teacher and, with a good friend, Jane Brown, opened a school for three to six year olds.

In 1991, a friend, Suzanne Creamer, taught her the rudiments of painting on silk and with months Susan was devoting her business time to painting on silk.

She first sold to Cleveland area stores. When deciding to find national buyers, she contacted Nordstroms. She was told the buyers were focusing on European names. This is how the name of her business went from Skove Silk to Skov Silk.

In 2005, after many years of production painting and working with sales reps and designers, Susan decided to turn her attention to one of a kind scarves that sell mainly through Museum stores and galleries.
