Roman Mold-Blown Glass publishes 193 glass vessels made by full-size (also called standard) mold blowing between the early first century A.D. and the beginning of the seventh century. This technique was invented soon after the discovery in the middle of the first century B.C. that glass could be inflated. The introductory essays on glass technology broke new scholarly ground, based in part on experiments conducted by the author in the Museum's Glass Studio.
E. Marianne Stern is an independent scholar and former guest curator of Roman glass at the Toledo Museum of Art.
