Jewelry Series: Wearable Reliquaries
Rooted in a deep reverence for nature, this series highlights the fragments we often overlook-objects left behind, collected, or quietly admired. Bones and objects are transformed into intentional, one of a kind earrings through electroforming, a process that seals and elevates each element with a sense of preciousness. The necklaces function as miniature reliquaries: glass spheres crafted as viewing lenses, permanently adhered to metal backings through electroforming process. Each piece holds one or more small natural objects, allowing the wearer to preserve, view, and carry these intimate remnants of the natural world.

Misha Nalepa is a Toledo-based artist whose practice bridges glass and metal. Trained in sculpture at the Columbus College of Art & Design, he now serves as Lead Glass Studio Artist at the Toledo Museum of Art. His glasswork centers on form, function, and a continual pursuit of new techniques, while his electroformed jewelry transforms natural materials-such as bone and taxidermied elements-into preserved, wearable objects. Through both mediums, Nalepa explores craftsmanship, material memory, and the intimate connection between object and wearer.
