Woodland Animal Selfie Series
Some of my favorite activities are taking selfies with my family, watching funny videos of animals and playing with color. As an artist, I work hard to develop prints that bring a smile to my face and to those of others when considering the candid moments of my printed subject. For this series, the creation of each design was informed by researching images of playful, woodland animals. Through exaggerated line, expressive color, and cropped composition, I want to fore front the unique personality of each animal.
The artistic challenge with any portrait is to attain a meaningful connection between the viewer and the subject. In my work, I enjoy intertwining nature with people. In this series, I do this by personifying the animals and enduing them with a child-like personality and by making a light-hearted, satirical commentary on the current "Selfie" culture. My artwork is fun to make and brings joy to people.
