3D Printed Autocoil Glass, Single Hand-Typed Line of G-Code

Each object in this series is made with one line of code, simply telling the machine to spin. Molten glass interprets this one line of code and builds upon it. My intimacy with and curiosity about glass's relationship with gravity, viscosity, and temperature converge to influence each form. I create a conversation between the precision of the digital and the inherent fluidity of glass. I see patterns emerge in the glass, both large and small.

I strive to grasp what is perpetually in flux, to understand and convey the essence of a material that defi es stillness. Tease apart moments by observation and experience. I run experiments again and again. Rewinding and rewriting records. The variables are vast, and we need digital tools to bring variables down so the phenomena can be explored and observed. My printer enables work over meters and hours that surpass my human limitations.

My work forms records in glass of the passage of time, movement, and applied forces. I seek to make this inherent dynamism visible, capturing the continuous interplay between material and experience. Experimentation is central to my practice-an ongoing conversation with glass, technology, and process. Each creation is not merely an object but a moment within this exploration.

Fatherhood is an experience of time travel. I am both forward and backward at once-watching my child move through the world while remembering how I must have once moved through it too. I am reaching into my past, excavating gestures I didn't know I had stored: the way I was held, the way time stretched and collapsed in the small rooms of childhood. I do not just witness my child growing; I feel time bending around us, layering, repeating. I am inside it. Glass holds this same logic. It is always carrying its past-every heat, every shift, every stretch stays within its form. It is a record, a body full of movement, an experiment in a series.

This has changed the way I think about making. I am less concerned with the finality of an object and more drawn to how process lingers, how material carries history. I wonder if fatherhood is less about teaching and more about transmitting-something deep and molecular, a force moving forward without needing to be named. When I pick up my child, am I repeating an action I was held in once? Is my body, like glass, recording it?

Evenline Studio

Evenline brings together science, art, engineering, and design. It keeps us excited and pushes each avenue to go further, take risks, and experiment in new ways. Sometimes, an art project emerges from our research, and other times, a design concept might form the foundation for a science paper.

Every Evenline object is thoughtfully designed to enhance any space it lives in. We focus on making timeless objects in new ways. We strive to bring about joy through playful forms and flexibility in how you can arrange our objects.
