Charlyn Reynolds

I am originally from Elgin , Illinois . I went to Illinois State University in Bloomington - Normal , where I studied art. I had started out as a drawing major, but had always been well rounded in other mediums. Once I had taken a glass class , I knew that this was the way I could communicate through my art. I continued taking glass classes under the direction of John Miller, where I learned a vast amount of techniques. Glass became such a versatile material for me to express myself, paper could never match up. Although, drawing has stuck with me and I continue to find ways to include it in my sculptures.

I have developed my works further by taking intensive classes at craft schools such as : Pilchuck Glass School in Stanwood, WA, Penland school of Craft in Penland NC, Lorenzo de Medici in Florence, Italy and at Scuola Abate Zanetti in Min Murano, Italy . Today I currently reside in Toledo, OH where I balance working at the Toledo Museum of Art Glass Pavilion as a hot shop technician and creating my own sculptures.
