I am originally from Elgin , Illinois . I went to Illinois State University in Bloomington - Normal , where I studied art. I had started out as a drawing major, but had always been well rounded in other mediums. Once I had taken a glass class , I knew that this was the way I could communicate through my art. I continued taking glass classes under the direction of John Miller, where I learned a vast amount of techniques. Glass became such a versatile material for me to express myself, paper could never match up. Although, drawing has stuck with me and I continue to find ways to include it in my sculptures.
