Catherine Rehbein

As a potter growing up in the Great Lakes, my forms are inspired by its presence. The surrounding colors, forms, and wildlife continue to inspire me.

The fluid movements of the waves, plant forms, and the life that interacts with them are among my most recent inspirations. I create each piece with the hope of passing on an appreciation of natural surroundings. These are the textures, colors, and shapes that inspire me.

Art has always been in my life. My earliest memories, the stacks of paper my aunt would bring over from the paper mill in my hometown. The crisp white spaces waiting for markings! Whether these marks I am driven to make are on clay, paper, canvas, wood ext. …. They all seem to lead from one to another. Each material giving me something to carry to the next.
