The Laurel is an evergreen shrub or tree with alternate, sharply lanceolate, short stemmed, wavy-edged leaves that ore bright green in color and produce and aromatic scent by the essential oil bearing glands. It is well suited for shrubberies and hedges and as a tree for avenues in mild climates. Since some laurels are unisex, male plants must be grown with female to obtain berries. The leaves of some laurels have been used to flavor food and for medicine.
Materials: The Bay Laurel ring is cast in bronze with 24kt. gold plate and accented with white freshwater pearls.
Measures: The band is adjustable.
Botanical Jewelry by Michael Michaud
The Michael Michaud Jewelry Collection, designed by Michael Michaud, is a world-renowned collection of botanical jewelry. It captures the beauty and exquisite detail of nature using soft patinas on bronze accented with pearls, beads, glass and semi-precious stones. His exacting attention to detail gives you true to nature, botanical jewelry.
About Our Jewelry
Our unique jewelry is made by creating molds directly from botanical elements in a process similar to lost-wax casting. While traditional lost-wax casting begins with a hand-carved model of wax, Michael Michaud uses an actual leaf, branch or flower in place of the wax model. A mold is created around the botanical element and as it is heated the plant matter burns away and leaves behind a beautifully detailed mold of itself.
Michael Michaud
Artist Michael Michaud attended the Rochester Institute of Technology's prestigious school for American craftsmen, where he studied under designers Hons Christenson and Gory Griffin and become a master in the creation and manipulation of molds. After graduating in 1980, Michael Michaud continued to perfect his craft while working under jewelry designers in the New York City area.
In 1991, he found himself working in New York City's flower district and living in the beautiful Connecticut countryside - his love of the natural beauty that surrounded him began to blend with his passion for creating jewelry which lead to the birth of Michael Michaud Jewelry.
