I have been painting and drawing for as long as I can remember, some years better than others. In 1974 I received a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Ohio University. I majored in bronze casting and stone lithography where I had the privilege of studying under the notable lithographer Don Roberts. At that time there was limited university structure and I was able to start printing early my freshman year and able to enjoy both the print shop and the foundry from early morning until sometime late in the evening.
After university I had a variety of miscellaneous jobs and eventually ended up shoeing horses in Colorado. During a trip back to see family I met a girl in church, soon was married and before long not only had four children but also the financial responsibilities that go with them. Not having the ability to get a "real" job I started a high-end furniture business in our unheated garage. Art for art's sake took a back seat to art for food and shoes. The business soon shifted from hard to market unprofitable furniture to very profitable industrial tooling. I brought my creative energy to the business. We were able to develop new processes, products and were granted several patents. The industrial business is now in three countries with about 100 employees and has allowed me to reengage my artistic passion in a more serious way over the last few years.
