My love of landscape originally developed from the discipline of plein air painting. For me, the immersion 'in' the landscape is transportive. During covid lock-downs, scenes that made me forget my troubles and feel "enveloped" (even if just for a moment) became inspirational. Quiet, hidden, reflective/introspective....lush; these are now things I look for. I am attracted to the intensity of color and luminous nature that the synthetic paper (Yupo) affords, as pigments set upon it's surface and pool vibrance. Conversely, I also paint in an entirely different (and more expressive) vein --thick with acrylics and palette knives. I am a 1994 BFA graduate from the Columbus College of Art and Design, a Signature member and Trustee in the Ohio Watercolor Society; an associate of the National and American Watercolor Societies; on the board of the Fostoria Area Arts Council and member of the Ohio Art League. Recent accomplishments include acceptance into the 2020 National Watercolor Society Member Show and "50 Stars" Exhibition. In 2021, a Bryn Du Award and Pentel of America Artist Spotlight winner. In 2022, acceptance into the Acrylic International Biennial Juried Exhibition, and I will be published as an honorable mention in the Artist's Magazine's "AcrylicWorks 9: The Best of Acrylic". In September, I will be giving a virtual artist's talk sponsored by the Ohio Art's Council as part of "The 45th Annual Ohio Watercolor Society Annual Juried Exhibition."
